Household — In Defense of Soups

Recipes and culinary advice

Currently, in very many homes, soups are being abandoned, not only for health reasons but through simple imitation, following fashion. The belief has taken hold that these dishes are not very nutritious in relation to their volume, that they fill the digestive organs, making it impossible to consume more valuable dishes.

This Criticism Can Only Apply to Soups

Thick ones consumed in large quantities, because a little clear borscht or broth, tomato soup, etc., only provide an incentive for more substantial eating and actually stimulate appetite.

We achieve the nutritional value of soups when we appropriately thicken them with dumplings, pasta, rice, groats, croutons, and finally by seasoning some soups with egg yolk mixed with cream or flour.

Soups as a Light Dish

All small children and elderly people need easily digestible food, and therefore soups are most suitable for such nutrition. Besides, a bowl of unified soup (at most half a liter) warms the stomach, provides a very desirable, pleasant taste experience, stimulating the secretion of digestive juices.

The Third Pillar

The third pillar — economy must be considered. The smaller the budget we have, the more soups we must eat, avoiding tea, coffee, cocoa, and carbonated drinks. For example, oatmeal with milk or tomato soup are nutritious breakfast drinks, bread for breakfast, cucumber soup or borscht with potatoes for dinner, and milk soup with dumplings for supper will be the basis of rational nutrition for a family with modest financial means.

When possible, prefer natural soups, as they are more nutritious.

And one more thing: if we have a small income, soups are the least troublesome and easiest to prepare.

The Girl — Class!

A pleasant face, without any "classical features" — neither beautiful nor even pretty, large mouth, "average" eyes, and rosy — nothing special! She's an ordinary Warsaw girl — can she be appealing too? Oh yes — she can certainly be appealing!

But she must maintain composure, natural grace, innocent heart, and devotion to the end. An ordinary dress, simply tailored to look good on her, a beret casually placed on the forehead, eyes cheerful or holding a mysterious gleam.

But if she gets a permanent wave or fancy hairdo, suddenly platinum blonde, eyes lost in the color of sea blue with black mascara, and lips screaming red. Dyed hair in an artificial shade, an elegant costume and colorful gloves — and our sweet maiden disappears, who only needed a natural, simple style to win men's hearts. What a shame...
